The couple's names were William/Bill & Sylvia (Feingold) McGee -. Bill born 1910/1911 was an official in the Longshoreman's Union in the San Francisco area around 1936-1938. We believe that Sylvia, born 1911/1912, was from New York City. Bill & Sylvia were married on September 20, 1935 in New York City and divorced in Alameda County, California on February 24, 1941. They listed no children in their divorce papers. We believe that Sylvia took Carl Walter with her when she returned to New York in 1940 (returning to CA for a short time in 1941 to divorce Bill McGee.) All Other Information: I am the daughter of the above named adoptee/person Gerald A. Eller. Ever since I was young and had learned that my father was adopted, I have had this burning desire to know who the other 1/2 of is. Even though this doesn't directly affect me, in a sense it does. My father and I have talked about his and he is truly a great man and father, considering his circumstances. He was blessed to have 2 adoptive parents that loved and cared for him and raised him very well. For me personally, I have just always felt like the "cup of life" has been 1/2 full. It is strange not knowing who "all" of your birth relatives are. As a child, coming from such a small family, I had always dreamed of having more aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. I did get to know my adoptive grandparents, but not in the full sense of having grandparents. I always had a very close relationship w/my mother's mother, but that is the only person aside from my great-grandmother on my mothers side who has since passed away, along with my father's adoptive parents. I have always desired to know who my father's birthparents are and understand the reason for his adoption. Being a mother myself of 4 children, I can certainly relate to the pressures of having a child. It is our understanding that my father's birthmother maybe kin of the "Kress" surname, be we are not for certain. We also have been told his birthmother may have been a very young unwed woman or possibly a teenager from a family who may have owned a department store. The other story is that his birthmother/father may have traveled from NY to place my father for adoption-and they may have also been school teachers. However, the story of his birthmother being young/unwed sounds more realistic. It will be a "pure blessing" if either birthparent is still alive, or if there are any birth relatives/siblings. In doing this search, I fully respect and understand the privacy that one may wish to maintain of anononimity- if such a person is found. It is not our intention to upset anyone or any family. Just to know the history of the family, our roots/geneology would be just as great. I have a great life, and 4 beautiful children, and a father that I love dearly. For us some sort of open-closure would be nice to have ~ if that makes any sense. Thanks.
