All Other Information: My paternal grandfather, Donald Allyn O'Kelly, has passed on but I would like to find my roots and am at a road block with his adoption. My grandfather was living as an infant in San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., CA. We always presumed he was born there and adopted there, but don't truly know. He was adopted by Robert C. O'Kelly and Ida Belle (maiden name unknown). I can find them in the census in San Bernardino in ?-?-1920. My mom remembers my father's mother (so the first wife of my grandfather - Donald Allyn O'Kelly) saying she thought his birth parents' surnames might have been Livingston and Stevens/Stephens. My grandfather once tried to find out who his birth parents were and someone sent him a threatening letter to cease and desist on his search. However, by now pretty much all parties must be deceased (my grandfather passed in I think ?-?-1986) so I wouldn't think it would be an issue for anyone at this point.

All Other Information: Adoptee and her adoptive parents are deceased. I am the adoptee's son seeking info. She was born in Los Angeles, CA 2-5-1918, but adoption was Finalized in Pierce Co. WA the next year (?-?-1919). Native Sons...Agency now defunct. She was Relinquished to them, they handled the Adoption. We have part of the "Certificate of Live Birth"(cut off) from State of CA that names the adoptive parents as "parents." It makes no mention of the fact she is Adopted! Strange? It is dated ("date received by local registrar") 2-7-1918, two days after her birth. But the Adoption was Finalized over a year later in another state (WA). On the Certificate of Live Birth says Adoptee was born 2-5-1918 at 10 PM. Dr.'s were Dr. L.M. Powers, & Dr. Bless. also on the same Certificate, it shows parents address as - 54th & Oak Streets, Tacoma, WA. But remember, these were the Adoptive Parents (the Bells) that they named on the Certificate! I think there might be an Original Birth Certificate that is "Sealed." Can we get it opened? It is from 93 years ago. Lastly, On our Certificate of Live Birth is shows "State File No. 18-005760." But it does not show the Birth Parents names or any reference to an Adoption. Thank you!

All Other Information: State of California says there is no record of my mother's birth. My birth certificate says she was born in California and I do know she went to high school in the Long Beach area. My mother rarely spoke of her childhood and I don't know her adoptive parents' first or middle names. She did mention that they belonged to a "holy roller" religion and that they were "old" when they adopted her. I think she meant late 40's or 50's, maybe even in their 60's. She was an infant when she was adopted, but I don't know at what age. Her adoptive parents died in the late ?-?-1940's and/or early ?-?-1950's. They also adopted another child they named Mabel but they gave Mabel up for adoption a few years later. Mabel was a year or two older than my mother and was already two or three years old when she was adopted and five or six years old when they gave her up. My mother's adult height was 5'5" with brown hair and brown eyes. She had a large nose. My mother married Robert Theodore Hudgins in the early ?-?-1940's and they divorced in ?-?-1953. She then married Howard Doyle Bell in ?-?-1957 and was married to him until his death in ?-?-1979.

Apparently she was shipped to California, and the matter is only known because she spoke of it while under anesthesia. Birth mother Ruth Morland was born in Oregon 2-21-1912. It is believed she had her baby between 1928-1930, with 1930 most likely. The family was staunch Swedish Lutherans. Red hair can run in the family. All Other Information: Everyone who might have been involved in this adoption is now deceased. We believe Gloria was "kept in the family". Her birth mother was probably a Donoho. One story has her birth mother as Marion Fern Goodno (maiden name) (born ?-?-1898) and father as Ben Kepling Donoho (born ?-?-1878). Both were living in Alhambra, California, in the ?-?-1930 census, but not together or married at the time. The other story is that she was the daughter of Dorothy Wray Donoho (born ?-?-1908) and living in Albany, California at the ?-?-1930 census. We do not know the validity of either of these stories. I beleive she was adopted at a very young age. I believe I have seen pictures of her with her adoptive parents when she was just a few months old.

About ?-?-1934 my father was separated from his siblings when both parents died, he was officially adopted in ?-?-1934 by my grandparents. My cousin said he cried for a year. His birth parents died within a few months of each other, and left many children who could not be taken in by relatives. I believe he had at least 6 older brothers, one named Darrell Norman, and a sister Patsy Norman who were all at Children's home society I think in Los Angeles. My grandparents kept the Children's Home society magazine whit photos of these kids.

This half sibling was fathered by my mother's uncle, Berdine E Cole (b. 12-19-1876, d. 9-18-1954). Berdine's wife was Minnie Teresa Koch Cole (b.12-2-1881, d.10-24-1959). Berdine was convicted and put in jail for molestation of my mother. Jewell thinks her child was a boy - states she never saw him - arrangements were made for him to be adopted by "a wealthy family from San Francisco". Jewell was 11 or 12 years old at the time of the birth. She was sent away from Hollister, CA to the Florence Crittendon Home for unwed mothers in S.F. and later on went to boarding school at Immaculate Conception Academy in S.F. Jewell's parents were Otto B. Koch (b. 5-9-1979, d. 12-27-1935) and Charlotte Chapman Koch (b.1886, d.1930). Jewell had a brother, Stanley W. Koch (b.10-6-1951, d. 12-21-1974). He stayed in Hollister, CA where rest of the family lived. He was placed with another aunt and uncle, Sina Koch Stevens and Lewis Stevens. I have started a geneology study through ancestry.com.

Ever since I was young and had learned that my father was adopted, I have had this burning desire to know who the other 1/2 of is. Even though this doesn't directly affect me, in a sense it does. My father and I have talked about his and he is truly a great man and father, considering his circumstances. He was blessed to have 2 adoptive parents that loved and cared for him and raised him very well. For me personally, I have just always felt like the "cup of life" has been 1/2 full. It is strange not knowing who "all" of your birth relatives are. As a child, coming from such a small family, I had always dreamed of having more aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. I did get to know my adoptive grandparents, but not in the full sense of having grandparents. I always had a very close relationship w/my mother's mother, but that is the only person aside from my great-grandmother on my mothers side who has since passed away, along with my father's adoptive parents. I have always desired to know who my father's birthparents are and understand the reason for his adoption. Being a mother myself of 4 children, I can certainly relate to the pressures of having a child. It is our understanding that my father's birthmother maybe kin of the "Kress" surname, be we are not for certain. We also have been told his birthmother may have been a very young unwed woman or possibly a teenager from a family who may have owned a department store. The other story is that his birth mother / birth father may have traveled from NY to place my father for adoption-and they may have also been school teachers. However, the story of his birth mother being young / unwed sounds more realistic. It will be a "pure blessing" if either birth parent is still alive, or if there are any birth relatives / siblings. we think he was 3-6 months old @ time of adoption. In doing this search, I fully respect and understand the privacy that one may wish to maintain of anononimity- if such a person is found. It is not our intention to upset anyone or any family. Just to know the history of the family, our roots/geneology would be just as great. I have a great life, and 4 beautiful children, and a father that I love dearly. For us some sort of open-closure would be nice to have ~ if that makes any sense. Thanks.

Went to Alameda County Court to search for my birth certificate and there was nothing under Lloyd Clifford Adam Clark, but there was a Lloyd Clifford Adams born on my birth date that the records had been sealed.

All Other Information: My father is George Fredrick Jenkins. This name given to him by his adoptive parents. I know he was adopted when he was a couple days old and born in California. He was moved to Weatherford Texas, and raised in Fortworth. In "39 records were not kept well and I'm having trouble finding anything out.
