I promised her before she died that I would do all I could to find who her biological parents and family were. At the age of three or four years old she was given to legal guardians in Little Rock, Arkansas. The guardians were Ethel and Minie Young. Adoptee may have had two or three older siblings. Birth dates of birth parents now known. I have posted on BirthQuest, Adoption.com, Ancestry.com, GenForum.com, FamilyTreeDNA (my brother had his Y-DNA tested). I do not have any non identifying information on birth parents. Adoptee (deceased) is my father. My father's adoptive grandmother told my mother that my father's birth parents posted an advertisement looking for a couple to adopt my father as he was very ill and they could not care for him. When his adoptive parents went to see him, his parents and two or three other kids were living in a car at Cross Lake. She also stated that one of the biological parents was a grandchild or great-grandchild of Chief Sitting Bull. She further related that adoptive parents and biological parents corresponded for about a year after the adoption, at which time the adoptive family read a newspaper article in which a Williams family perished in a hotel fire somewhere in Louisiana. The adoption was accomplished by a Notary Public named S. M. Riser and it was "filed and recorded 11-15-1928, at 9:12 AM, by Helen Rogers, Dy. Clk. & Ex-Off. Dy. Recorder. Recorded Conv. Book 269, page 837. Inst. #60,117. Certified 7 Jan 1949 by Deputy Clerk and Ex-Officio Recorder" and witnessed by birth parents, adoptive parents and notary, as well as E. D. Guthrie and C. E. Key (possibly Carl Emerson Kea, brother to Maud). Adoption record obtained from Clerk of Court, Caddo Parish, 501 Texas St. - 103 Courthouse, Shreveport LA 71101-5408. To date, no birth certificate (either original or adoptive) has been found.

All Other Information: This would have been an illegal adoption that would have taken place out of Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. It would probably occurred from sometime in September 1936 on. The child and his parents were living in Tensas Parish when at about three months of age, Hollis became ill with a diarrhea. Mr. and Mrs. Wactor were extremely poor and rode a bus to Charity Hospital in New Orleans seeking care for Hollis. Hollis was admitted to the hospital, but the Wactor's were unable to remain in New Orleans due to their financial condition. They returned by bus to Tensas Parish. They had been home only a short while, when some local authority contacted them to inform them of notification from Charity Hospital in New Orleans, that Hollis had passed away and that they should not return to claim his body, because he would be buried by the time the would arrive. The family has searched for a death certificate which should have been issued since he was supposed to have died in the hospital, with no success. Mrs. Wactor always believed that Hollis was given away without her consent.

All Other Information: A beautiful, brown-eyed Caucasian baby boy was born in New Orleans on 8-3-1937, possibly at a Methodist home that was named "Methodist Mercy Home" - and possibly the birth parent was named "Meredith". The baby was adopted by my sister and her husband, Florence and Joseph M. Beebe, who lived in Tullos, La. at the time, and later moved to California. Both are deceased. I was told he was the son of an unwed Methodist minister's daughter. In the baby's book my sister kept, I saw part of a worn document that read "Meredith baby". Whether or not this name would be relevant or not, I do not know. That is the extent of my knowledge about his birth. All Other Information: I am looking for a birth sister. My elderly mother has dementia but she has given us information regarding a child that she gave birth to when she was 16. She was born 8-5-1924, she said that baby was taken from her at birth. Her father Leodice Melancon took the baby girl. I am really not sure if there are any records of this birth. I was told my Hospice nurses that when the end of time is close people start to remember things that they have otherwise blocked out. I truly believe that a child was born and I would love to find this person. My mother had two children with her husband. My sister born in 1945 and myself born in 1956. All Other Information: The adoptee, George Troy Langlois, may have been born to a woman with the last name of St. Pierre. This information was relayed to us by an adoption attorney we are friends with who happened upon this information while researching a case for another client. Since we live in such a small parish, she was reviewing the entire list of adoptions for the parish for several years in which Troy's adoption was one of them and noticed that Troy was on the list she had. She informed us that if his birthday was in fact 8-5-1950, which is when his birthday is celebrated every year, that he was the only single birth, white male born on the date in question and if he was this baby, his mother's last name (maiden or married) at the time was St. Pierre, but as I stated the birth date may or may not be accurate. Due to the fact that I was not ready to pursue a possible road of heartache or disappointment I chose not to act on the information and ignored the data she had. Now she is no longer with us and I would like to know where I came from. The birth day of 8-5-1950 may be off a day or so in either direction due to the fact that the adoption agency / social worker stated to Iris & Allie (the adoptive parents) that the mother May have kept him for a period of hours or even days before finally relinquishing him. There is more information we have been given over the years. The mother may have been at a school for wayward girls or a boarding school and she may have been impregnated by a teacher or professor of hers because the story Iris and Allie were told when they adopted him was that his mother became pregnant by a teacher of hers and that she went to New Orleans to give birth and Troy was adopted 7-9 months later to Iris and Allie. Due to the nature of this story for the social worker and Troy's genius level of intellect he was dubbed the professor form an early age. I know the details are sketchy; however I truly hope we can find some information that will open the door to our past so we can further on in our future quest of life, because you never know where you are going, until you know where you have been. ***The story we were told by Iris and Allie (adoptive parents) was that their friends referred them to a local priest who then informed them that he would see to it that they were given a child and were referred to an agency where they were visited by a social worker who then connected them with the baby (Troy-my dad) in question. The social worker made a home visit and then began the process of adopting him. Iris and Allie had adopted another child, a girl, born 10-30-1947 also in New Orleans.

He was a freshman in college and planned to complete his education and become a farmer. The birth mother stated that she and the birth father hoped to marry after the birth father completed college and eventually have a family. Both of them wanted to keep the baby but they feared that being from a small town, they didn't want the child to be "branded as having been conceived before marriage". Both agreed that adoption was the best option. The birth father was 19 years old at the time of the child's birth. He had completed high school and was a freshman in college. He planned to become a farmer as he had lived on a farm all of his life. When the birth mother and birth father learned of the pregnancy, the birth father went to speak with the birth mother's father. The birth father was of French and English descent. He was Methodist. Physically, he was described as being 5'11 tall and weighed about 160 pounds. He had black hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. The birth father was described as being in good health. The birth father's father was 52 years old at the time of the child's birth. He had completed high school and was a farmer. He was of English and French descent. He was Methodist. The other brother was 21 years old at the time. He had completed high school and worked as a farmer. He was single and had no children. All of the birth father's siblings were described as being in good health. The birth father's maternal great grandmother was alive and was 101 years old at the time. Both the birth mother and birth father's families were described as good, church going people and lived "wholesome" lives. The birth mother did not have any complications during the pregnancy. The child was born on 8-1-1953 at Touro Infirmary. At birth, the child weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 1/8 inches in length. The birth mother named the child Gloria Faith at birth. She said that she named the baby after a friend of hers. The birth mother signed the surrender of parental rights on 8-5-1953 and she left the maternity home on the following day. The child was placed with the adoptive family on 12-18-1953. The final decree of adoption was issued on 9-8-1954. My bio maternal grandmother requested a private room in the hospital. Father's family allegedly raised horses. They allegedly lived in Louisiana.

Adoptee may have been at St. Vincent de Paul Infant and Orphan Home on Magazine St. in New Orleans (no longer in operation) prior to adoption. During our internet search on Ancestory.com we found that a women by the name of Rebecca Clark married a man by the name of Floyd Williams in New Orleans in 1929. At that time Rebecca was 17 y.o. and Floyd 20 y.o. If this Rebecca Clark was the birth mother, she would have been 42 y.o. when she gave birth. That is pretty old but not out of the question. A man named "Floyd" Williams marrying a women named "Rebecca Clark" in New Orleans may only be coincidental.

All Other Information: My mother became pregnant out of wedlock. She was a month pregnant when she graduated high school in Baton Rouge, LA. She was sent to a convent in New Orleans to await the birth of the baby. Her parents came when the baby was born and made my mom put the baby up for adoption. They were a respectful family from Baton Rouge and it was the 1950's. My mom and dad were married on 5-17-1957, I have two other brothers. I am the baby and only girl and was born 2-8-1966. My mother told me of my half brother right before she died when I was 30 years old. I searched for him, but only got a nice letter from Catholic Charities. I was told that my brother had blond hair and grey eyes. He weighed 6 lbs., 8 oz. and was 18" long. He had a pale, fair complexion. My mother was very olive toned. He was adopted almost 5 months later by a local couple. The birth father had a B.S. Degree in Accounting and the mother had attended two years of college majoring in Commerce. They were physically similar. My grandparents names were Charles Pearlie LeBlanc and Herminnie Arceneaux-LeBlanc.

My birth certificate is fake. adoptive parents said a Dr. O.R. Depp was instrumental in arranging the adoption but the birth certificate list a Dr. Nathan Gisclair as attending physician. Was told I was picked up from Baptist but on the bc the line for place of birth is blank. I also was told by my a-mom that my b-mom was an older woman who's husband was either in jail or a TB sanatorium at Charity and that I was the result of an affair b-mom had while her legal husband was away. Charity hospital did have a TB sanatorium at one time. My pediatrician was a Dr. Terral who some relatives say was involved in my adoption somehow.
