All Other Information: I recently registered w/NY State adoption registry to obtain any non-identifying information. Received a letter back with very little information other than my birth mother was 22 at the time of my birth and she had 2 other children prior to me. No disclosed information on my birth father. I was confused by this information because my adoptive parents told me that social services advised them that my birth mother was from a large family, she was from England, Birth father was College student of Baske decent. Birth mother worked at a cafe near the college and she was 16 or 17. New York State says she was 22 when she had me, and has 2 prior children. I am now left with even more questions than answers. I have also been told by my adoptive mother that their was some discrepency about my birthday. Certificate says 20th but could me +/- a few days. Adoption handled by Erie County Social Services. I have often wondered why I wasn't adopted until I was nearly two if my birth mother supoosedly gave me up at birth. (I weighed 5 pounds 4 ounces) NY record also indicates I have an adopted sibling on the registry, I sent the consent form in but never heard back from anyone. I really hope if I have some blood relatives out there we can connect. It would be a real blessing to share photos and info. I would also like to know if anyone knows if there is a way to get Erie County Social Services to release any information pertaining to the circumstances of my adoption.
